DEEPENING OUR CONNECTION TO OURSELVES: ARTS-BASED THERAPY GROUP FOR WOMEN

Beginning 5th October 2010:

While individual therapy allows us to work on issues in the context of a one-to-one relationship, group therapy provides an opportunity to share and compare our experience with others who are also working on themselves and may be facing similar challenges.

In this group we will use the arts to reflect on where we are currently and where we would like to be moving towards. Whether it is a drawing, a collage or a few lines of poetry, approaching our experience through a different mode to everyday thought and conversation can trigger emotions and insights that we might not otherwise have access to. The demands of work, of parenting or of caring for others can mean we lose touch with our innermost core; engaging with the arts helps deepen our connection to ourselves. No previous experience or expertise with the arts is necessary.

The group is limited to a maximum of eight participants.

Sessions will take place in Islington and will run fortnightly on Tuesday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am over the autumn, winter and spring terms beginning on 5th October 2010. There are usually six to seven sessions per term. A minimum commitment of one term is required and it is strongly encouraged that people consider a commitment of at least one year.

The fee per session is £25.

Please call or e-mail me if you would like to know more and/or are interested in joining the group.
